Wonderful jewel of a museum. Flight-worthy World War Ii vintage aircraft, mostly fighters, lovingly restored and cared for. We saw flight demonstrations of three aircraft while we were there. Well worth the trip -- about a 2-hour drive from the Twin Cities.
Just happened to be driving by this and had a lunch hour to spare- was very impressed and would like to go back with a few more hours to really pour over everything. Not the biggest museum but everything is in immaculate shape, you can tell a lot of time and love went into the exhibits
I wasn't expecting much when we planned on visiting, it's a WWII museum in the middle of no where. I was wrong. This museum has a large variety of planes all nicely restored. In addition, there is a tank, jeeps and railroad cart on display. My favorite part was looking at all the souvenirs they have displayed. I would recommend visiting this musuem.
You can walk right up to the airplanes and stick your head into the cowls, bomb bays and windows. Unprecedented access for a museum. Makes a great afternoon.
